Vanished Into the Night Review: Mediocre Thriller With a Brilliant Cast Lands on Netflix

Netflix’s latest movie, Vanished Into The Night follows Pietro, a father and divorcee who is navigating life as a single parent, and his world is turned upside down following the disappearance of his children – Giovanni and Bianca.

For starters, we have to admit that the premise of the movie isn’t out of the box and doesn’t separate it from the ordinary. However, maybe that’s something that actually works in its favor.

Vanished Into The Night is led by the very talented Riccardo Scamarcio and Annabelle Wallis. Scamarcio plays the role of Pietro, and Wallis plays the role of Elena, the distraught mother in the movie. There’s desperation, anger, frustration, and plenty more emotions in this rollercoaster movie, and here’s our review!

Does Pietro Save His Children?

The first 15 minutes of Vanished Into The Night are more than enough to establish the movie’s main characters and plot, whilst also showing the transition of a once happy family to two people in the midst of a nasty divorce.

The theme of Netflix‘s movie is well put together at the beginning, however, it doesn’t progress nearly as smoothly as it began.

Admittedly, Vanished Into The Night had enough plot twists to sustain the suspense until the end of the movie, and keep the viewers hooked, despite their predictability.

For a moment you might think this movie is about Pietro doing whatever it takes to get his children back, another moment you might wonder if Elena is the villain, and ultimately, it might leave you guessing if the premise was simply a way for Pietro and Elena to either separate for good, or find their way back to each other.

Here’s why things ultimately work out in favor of Vanished Into The Night: it manages to keep the viewers engaged and curious despite the obvious and cheesy twists scattered across the movie.

While this movie often might seem familiar to the endless suspense thriller you have watched in your lifetime, it has more than many redeeming factors, albeit, leaves a mediocre mark behind!

One must definitely keep a lookout for Scamarcio and Wallis’ work in the movie, as both stars deliver equally splendid performances, but Scamarcio’s Pietro in Vanished Into The Night particularly stands out as he plays a range of emotions in a span of very little time.

Frankly, we were invested in the movie enough to wish it could have been a three-part series, at least, or that it at least deserves a sequel.

Conclusion

If you’re a fan of some good old suspense mixed with action and drama, then we do recommend adding Vanished Into The Night to your watchlist. While this movie might not be on its way to winning many awards, it surely will secure a spot in your mind for a good few days!
