Sunny, Apple TV+’s latest high-tech sci-fi series had us hooked with the two-episode premiere last week, and since then, we have been looking forward to what’s next, especially for the main protagonist Suzie, and her missing husband and son, Masa and Zen.
The role of Suzie is played by none other than Rashida Jones, and she set the bar incredibly high for herself with her splendid performance in the pilot, seeing more of her in Sunny episode 3 has been an absolute delight.
Before you go ahead and watch the next episode of Sunny, we must warn you that things aren’t as straightforward as you’d wish them to be, so you have to keep up with all sorts of subplots that are introduced in the episode. But, apart from that, the episode does a stellar job of moving the narrative forward and answering a few questions.
What’s Next for Suzie and Sunny?
Sunny Episode 3 has a cryptic start that had us making sure we were watching the correct series, but it was also a good reminder that Sunny will have plenty of unexpected moments and subplots, and this was just one of them.
Within the first five minutes of the episode, there’s also a well-being check on Suzie, who appears to be doing worse than before and hasn’t left the house in a long time. In fact, the start of this episode might have you missing Rashida Jones on screen!

Masa’s mother, aka Suzie’s overbearing mother-in-law, has decided to have a funeral for a son, whether or not Suzie agrees to it, and of course, she doesn’t. Jones continues to maintain the quality of her performance in the third episode, which begins with a breakdown and then snapping at her robot, which seems pretty standard for the series.
Suzie also refuses to attend Masa’s funeral, or wear the pearls given by her mother-in-law, but does receive an unexpected gift.
Suzie finally manages to get out of her house after weeks and seeks help from Mixxy, the bartender from the previous episode, who agrees to help. There’s plenty of suspense throughout Sunny episode 3, because at every nook and corner, it leaves you wondering what’s about to happen next, and that essentially keeps one hooked to it.

With Mixxy’s help and Sunny almost getting mixed up in a terrifying bot competition, Suzie manages to learn a little more about Masa and Zen but also finds herself in a robot sumo league championship, which is unexpected, yet somehow fits into the premise of the series. Ultimately, Suzie does make it to Masa’s funeral but matters only get more complicated from here on.
Conclusion
Sunny episode 3 was intriguing, entertaining, and definitely a little confusing, but we’re hoping the next episode will have some answers for everyone. So make sure you keep a lookout for our review of the same!
