Marvel Studios has dropped some big announcements at the San Diego Comic-Con and left fans and the internet speechless. However, they were only speechless for a moment because now people have taken over the internet to express their thoughts about how Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has simply disappeared into oblivion and been replaced by Avengers: Doomsday instead. It’s safe to say that people have some mixed feelings about this switch-up!
Early this year, Jonathan Majors, who played the role of the iconic character Kang, was sentenced to a domestic violence program after he was convicted of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, reported The Cut.
Of course, Majors was fired from Marvel, which meant the studio needed to find an alternative to Majors, and now we know that is!
Marvel Studios Announces Avengers: Doomsday
At the San Diego Comic-Con, Joe and Anthony Russo had plenty of big announcements for the fans. This included a new clip of Thunderbolts, a new title for Fantastic Four and a character revealed for Captain America: Brave New World.
While all these announcements were more than exhilarating for fans, one particular announcement stole the show. And yes, we are talking about Avengers: Doomsday, and more importantly, the lead of the movie, Robert Downey Jr.
Avengers: Doomsday has officially replaced Avengers: The Kang Dynasty as “Avengers 5” and will be released in May 2026, a year before Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios has certainly shocked its fans by completely replacing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty instead of recasting Jonathan Majors, and people have shared their opinions of the same online.
Internet Reacts to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Being Shut Down
People on social media platforms were quick to respond to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty being replaced by Avengers: Doomsday.
One user wrote, “That’s how you make people immediately forget about Kang and Jonathan Majors,” and another wrote, “Am I the only one that was super invested in the Kang storyline? I can’t believe it’s over I’m sure Avengers Doosmday will be great but what was the point of building up Kang & the multiverse storyline through all these projects. They could’ve recast Majors with a variant.”
“Kang Dynasty was about to be something special,” expressed one user, and another wrote, “This is by far the stupidest and needless over-correction I’ve witnessed in recent Hollywood.
Why not just recast Kang? There are actors out there that I’m sure will do just fine. Why turn Doom into an Iron Man variant? The whole thing is so frustrating.”
Conclusion
It is safe to say that not everyone is thrilled about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty being completely shut down and replaced by Avengers: Doomsday, but hopefully, the return of Robert Downey Jr. acts as a saving grace for Marvel Studios!
