Lady in the Lake Episode 4 Review: A New Wave of Plot Twists

Apple TV+’s series, Lady in the Lake has reached its mid-point, which can only mean that things are about to get a lot more interesting with new twists and turns as the plot thickens. If there’s one thing that has been exceptionally unique when it comes to this series, it has to be the title of the episodes, and Episode 4 has taken it up a notch.

Lady in the Lake Episode 4 is titled, “Innocence leaves when you discovered cruelty. First in others, and then in yourself.” No, this isn’t the episode description, but the title that had us looking forward to what’s about to happen next, and in this review, we will explore exactly that, so make sure you stick around!

Does Stephan Zawadzkie Escape from Prison?

Lady in the Lake Episode 4 starts where the previous episode left off, when Maddie makes her way to the psychiatric prison, where she interviews Stephan Zawadzkie, who has been charged with the murder of Tessie.

This interview has been one of the most important scenes of the series thus far, and it’s safe to say that it served its purpose…to an extent.

The first ten minutes of the episode are reserved for Maddie and Stephan’s interview, one where they talk about his father, the woods, Jesus Christ, some experiment which was conducted, and of course, Stephan maintains his innocence when it comes to the murder of Tessie.

In addition, he also turns the tables, questioning Maddie about how she stumbled upon Tessie’s body and knew exactly where to look.

Once the opening credit of Lady in the Lake role, the episode switches back to its usual pattern, with plenty of focus on both Maddie and Cleo. Cleo, who has found a small loophole and sees some light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to her struggles focuses on her previously made agreement with Reggie, but it has been made very clear that there is plenty at stake.

Meanwhile, Maddie’s work has led to plenty of positive commotion at The Baltimore Star as she finally gains some kind of recognition.

One scene that particularly stood out did not help further the plot but focused on how wonderfully the Apple TV+ series makes use of colors and outfits. Maddie’s bright yellow dress in contrast to the pale newspaper office truly stands out and also works as a metaphor of sorts.

Maddie is now officially an employee at The Baltimore Star, and although she isn’t a big-shot reporter just yet, it’s a start, and it is exactly what she needed.

The end of Lady in the Lake Episode 4 was just as interesting as the start of the episode, where Stephan has now broken out of jail just to confront Maddie, as it appears, and on the other side, Reggie is ready to kill Cleo. The drama never ends, and that’s what keeps this series afloat.
