Land of Women, an Apple TV+ series starring Eva Longoria has now crossed the mid-point, which only means that matters are about to get possibly worse for the characters, but interesting for the viewers.
In the last few episodes, the creators of the series have spent a good chunk of time letting the viewers get to know the three main characters – Gala, Julia, and Kate. This has happened through flashbacks, but primarily from the present time where the women found themselves uprooting their comfortable life and moving away to a small town.
In the previous episode of Land of Women, Gala, Julia, and Kate were held at gunpoint by Kevin and Hank, the two men who had been after them since the very beginning of the season. Now, episode 5 sheds more light on the women and their fates.
What Happened to Gala, Julia, and Kate?
Shockingly enough, Land of Women episode 5 doesn’t begin where the previous episode left off, especially since it was a cliffhanger like never before. Instead, the episode begins with a flashback showing young Julia, and her relationship with her sister.
As soon as the flashback is over, we travel back to the present, where the women are on their knees, with two guns pointing at them.
Gala manages to convince Tony, the ultimate boss, to lend her three more days to make the payment. However, Gala’s promise also comes with a string of lies, and that just calls for more drama in Land of Women, and that’s something viewers have to brace themselves for.
Gala also manages to lie to Amat, because she understands that one wrong move could result in all of them being dead as neither Hank nor Kevin will shy away from pulling the trigger. We have to admit, this level of drama was a long time coming, and we’re thrilled it’s finally here.
There are some tender moments between Gala and Amat in Land of Women episode 5, and that’s something everyone has been looking forward to, but the tension between them has also been at an all-time high.
While Gala thinks she might have gotten away with a quick lie, Amat knows there’s more to Hank and Kevin, and he’s keen on investigating. The first half of the episode is entertaining as always, and gives a deeper look into Julia’s character and her past.
One of the key moments of this episode was the scene with Mariona and Julia, in the present, which was needed from the very first episode, yet the timing of it felt appropriate at this point of the series. This scene was beautifully curated, from the dialogues to the flow, and everything in between.
Land of Women episode 5 is primarily about relationships, especially between the women of the family, that mend slowly and steadily, yet in a splendid way, and all credit goes to the writers of the series. The episode ends on yet another cliffhanger, just as Amat and Gala are about to kiss, Fred appears, finally…just at the wrong time.
