Skywalkers: A Love Story is Netflix’s latest documentary that follows a daredevil couple who are determined to scale the top of the world’s second-highest skyscraper together. Angela Nikolau and Ivan “Vanya” Beerkus bring love, acrobatics, trust, and several other elements together in this unique documentary, which is unlike anything the streaming platform has released before.
The documentary is directed by Jeff Zimbalist and Maria Bukhonina, and while Skywalkers: A Love Story offers uniqueness and thrill, we aren’t completely convinced that is a story that deserves to be told globally.
With that said, here’s our honest review of Skywalkers: A Love Story, which will hopefully help you decide whether you want to stream it or skip it.
Tale of a Daring Duo!
Skywalkers: A Love Story starts off on an ominous note, where the viewers are briefly introduced to Angela and Vanya, along with footage of them scaling the building, illegally. It is important to keep in mind that this dangerous activity, which has been documented and is now streaming on Netflix, could have landed them in serious trouble.

But, it was a daring activity that was supposed to bring them back together. from the get-go, things are a little confusing in Skywalkers: A Love Story, but luckily, more clarity is offered as the documentary moves forward.
Vanya, Angela, what they do, and why they do it are some of the things that are introduced in the documentary, and some of the images and stunts seem surreal, with no account for safety, and it is simply a little too difficult for us to get on board with this concept.

It left us wondering why Netflix chose this as a subject that needed to be documented. Despite several questions on our minds, we chose to proceed, because curiosity does get the best of people.
Angela’s journey to roof topping, which is a predominantly male field is one aspect to look forward to because she defied all odds and made her to the top of many buildings, posing in her best outfits, while the fear of dying constantly loomed over her head.
As the documentary moves forward, it also turns into a love story of sorts, and how two rooftoppers created a brand of their own, scaling new heights, quite literally, every chance they got.
They were Instagram sensations, they were on the news and admitted that safety is always their priority. Their ultimate goal was a skyscraper in Malaysia, which brings us back to the opening scene of the documentary.

Conclusion
Skywalkers: A Love Story will often make you flinch and simply wonder why anyone would risk their safety to this extent, but Vanya and Angela try their best to explain just why in this Netflix documentary. Do let us know in the comments what you think about it!
