Time Bandits Episodes 3 & 4 Review: Does Kevin Save His Parents?

Lucky for fans, Apple TV+’s latest fantasy adventure series, Time Bandits, has decided to tweak its release schedule, which sets it apart from the rest. Most series on the streaming platform follow an episode-a-week schedule, whereas Taika Waititi’s series has decided to drop two episodes every week, giving the fans more content to consume.

So far, Time Bandits has been equal parts funny, interesting, and adventurous. After the end of the second episode, we couldn’t wait for this journey to continue as Kevin becomes a part of the bandits, in hopes of saving his parents, who were turned into coal by a demon. Take a look at our review of episodes 3 & 4 and do let us know what you thought about it!

What’s Next in Kevin’s New Adventure?

If you spent the last episode wondering if Kevin is gone, and his parents are turned into coal, what about his sister? Well, Time Bandits Episode 3 finally showcases Saffron, who has finally realized that no one is in the house anymore, which also appears to be broken into.

As she navigates the rest of the house, she also opens Kevin’s cupboard which gives a glimpse into another time period, but she seems shockingly unbothered, unlike her brother.

Meanwhile, Kevin is with the bandits, holding two lumps of coal in his hands, aka his parents, as the rest tell him a little more about the terrifying demon. Although this should be sadder than funny, one must remember that this series has been created by Taika Waititi and stars Lisa Kudrow, which means comedy will be an ongoing element, and honestly, you won’t find yourself complaining about it.

It is time for the bandits and Kevin to pretend to be dragon slayers as they transport to a more medieval time in England. Luck worked in their favor, and Kevin too, because if it hadn’t, the group would have been cast out as people assumed they were witches.

Once again, this Apple TV+ series does a brilliant job when it comes to set design, and it is a treat to be able to watch so many different periods in only a matter of 4 episodes.

Once again, much like the previous episodes, the bandits find themselves in trouble, this time with a deadly sheriff, and once again, and this should come as no surprise, Kevin is the reason they survive. Although the premise might not be too unique in every episode, it is set up and comedy that carries it to the finishing line, and the same can be said about episode 4 as well.

Saffron returns in the fourth episode, only to find herself in Japan in 1200 CE, and now there are two adventures of sorts happening parallel in the series, but because of the smooth narrative, it isn’t too difficult to keep up! Episode 4 takes a similar trajectory to the previous episode, only in a different period and place, but it gets the job done.

Conclusion

It isn’t until the end of the episode that we once again witness Waititi as the Supreme Being, who also mentions Pure Evil. There are several complexities and characters in Time Bandits, but as the series moves forward, more is revealed, and one can expect to see plenty more unfold in the coming episodes!
