Stephen Norrington’s 1998 movie, Blade, starring the one and only Wesley Snipes, along with Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, N’Bushe Wright, and Donal Logue, sparked a lasting interest in the Marvel Comics character. Nearly three decades later, fans’ persistence is rewarded with the 2025 reboot, headlined by Mahershala Ali.
However, recent developments within the franchise have unexpectedly complicated matters, catching fans off guard. Originally, 4 big MCU movies were scheduled for 2025, but now, that number has come to do 3 as Blade has officially been removed from the calendar. What’s next for the daywalker?
A Temporary Goodbye to Blade
Captain America: A Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps have all been talked about in recent events involving a Marvel panel, like the San Diego Comic Con earlier this year.
Although the movie originally was scheduled to be released on November 7, 2025, Disney+ and Marvel had been rather quiet about it, which raised plenty of suspicion.
In recent reports, it has been revealed that Disney has officially removed the Blade reboot from the 2025 schedule, starring Mahershala Ali. Out of the 4 movies that were scheduled to be released in 2025, Blade was the only one that hadn’t begun production, and now we understand why.

As of now, there’s no new date for Blade, and no confirmation on whether or not this reboot will actually even happen, but we’re not losing all hope, not until there’s a piece of official news from Marvel or Disney. Nevertheless, at least we witnessed Wesley Snipes as Blade, momentarily in the recent Deadpool & Wolverine movie!
Has Blade Been Replaced?
On November 7, 2025, instead of Blade, audiences will be able to watch Predator: Badlands instead. While this isn’t the ideal replacement for one of Marvel comic’s most beloved characters, it is a treat for all fans of the Predator franchise. This upcoming movie will be the 6th installment in the franchise, with Dan Trachtenberg taking over as director.
As for the Marvel fans who might feel like they’re losing out, there are still 3 exciting movies lined up for 2025, which hopefully won’t see any major changes in release dates.
In addition, Marvel Studios has also added three untitled projects to its release schedule for 2028. These projects are currently untitled but we’re eager to know what’s about to come, and could Blade possibly be one of them?
Conclusion
This isn’t the first time Marvel and Disney have postponed a movie, but fans have waited a long time for Blade, and one can only hope that this reboot will be a part of the franchise’s schedule in the coming years. What do you think about this news?
